Meet The Team:
Marc A. Watson, P.E.
Imagine Creative Technilogy LLC
Marc Watson is the President of Imagine Creative Technology LLC, a Universal Studios Florida-based company that seeks to identify and develop business opportunities where the Modeling, Simulation & Training, Film/Television, Immersive and Interactive Entertainment industries converge.
TEQ Games is an Imagine Creative Technology LLC company. The start-up is focused on creating compelling and immersive learning experiences through virtual world game play and simulation technology. The company’s leadership team consists of research scientists, theme park creators, film producers, engineers and educators who came together through a shared passion for education, and are combining their strengths in storytelling, scientific research, and pedagogy to deliver exciting, new games-based experiences to engage learners.
A graduate of The United States Naval Academy and former Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, Watson has a diverse experience in development or training and education systems. He served as the Operations Officer at the Naval Construction Training Center responsible for the development of a broad range of curriculum and immersive training experiences for both active duty and reserve Seabee Battalions. As a Reserve CEC Officer, Watson developed two-week “war games” scenarios for active duty training of naval reservists in Holy Loch, Scotland and London, England.
Following six years of active duty in the Navy, Watson transferred to the Navy Reserve and founded a design-build engineering and project development firm in Florida called Watson Engineering, Inc. In eight years of business, the company was retained for increasingly greater project responsibilities including capital facility programs in excess of $150 million. In 1992, Sverdrup Corporation, one of the nation’s largest engineering and development firms, acquired the company. Watson joined Sverdrup as a senior corporate officer and head of Southeast U.S. operations.
While at Sverdrup, Watson served as the Principal for the design contract for Jurassic Park at Universal’s Island’s of Adventure. Upon completion of this design, he joined Universal Studios as a Director responsible for the design and development of Super Hero Island, including the Amazing Adventure’s of Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk Coaster, and other immersive rides and experiences of this great themed attraction. In 1999, following the completion of Island’s of Adventure, Watson was designated the Director of Development for Universal City Property Management, a Universal Studios subsidiary charged with Orlando expansion activities.
In 2003, Watson and a partner acquired Universal City Property Management from Universal Studios and took over as President for this 2,200-acre urban eco-tourism resort located on a former industrial site adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center. The innovative development encouraged conservation while filling a critical need for convention hotel rooms. In 2007, Watson sold his interest in Universal City Property Management and started Imagine Creative Technology, LLC, to focus his efforts on immersive simulation experiences and digital media development for education and entertainment.
Watson has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal, and is a licensed pilot.
